Humanitarian Situation And Needs

CONTEXT
The world is suffering from a wide range of humanitarian crises, from food insecurity to refugee displacement and climate change. There is an urgent need to address the effects of these unprecedented events.
1. Food Insecurity
Food is more than a meal. It’s survival. Roughly 155 million people were estimated to be acutely food insecure and in need of urgent assistance in 55 countries and territories in 2021 This represents an increase of 20 million people compared to 2020s 135 million people in 55 countries and territories, which was an already record year for acute food insecurity since the GRFC was first launched in 2017. In the 39 countries and territories that experienced food crises across five years of GRFC publications, the population affected by high levels of acute food insecurity increased from 94 to 147 million people between 2016 and 2020. This shows an overall worrisome trend of increasing levels of acute food insecurity.

But despite a great deal of progress, women and girls continue to face discrimination and violence in every part of the world especially in third world countries were cultural norms and context hinder the growth of most women. As a result of this we are committed to the fight against gender violence and discrimination and we do these by empowering women in various regions through education, leadership and economic empowerment. We also work with other civil society and international organizations to advocate and change norms about gender issues.

In most underdeveloped countries, people have to trek for miles to fetch water, and in most scenarios ,the hygienic conditions of the water sources are unhygienic, as a result increases the spread of water borne diseases which have disastrous effects especially on children.
